L'Île-Rousse
(Monticello · Corsica)
The beautiful Isula Rossa is first distinguished by its surroundings: the old city; surrounded by cobbled streets, it is located on the edge of a bay flanked on one side by a red porphydo peninsula (hence its name) and on the other, by a sandy beach bordered by a pleasant path. The city became known as early as 1758, when Pascal Paoli chose it to build a port city that rivals the Calvi genoese.
